Colt Starting 1
A well started horse is respectful both on the ground and under saddle. In this class you will learn basic ground work tequniques to keep you safe and respected by your equine partner.
You will learn how to sensitize and desensitize your horse to stimulus, teach your horse to accept basic care such as hoof picking and deworming, round penning and lunging basics, learning to wear a saddle and bridle and giving to pressure.
Colt Starting 2 Prerequisite: Colt Starting 1
After completing Colt Starting 1 students will learn how to prepare their horse for saddle work and complete the first few rides on their colt.
Students will learn more advanced lunging, further teaching your horse to give, stirrup driving and yes riding. Students first two rides will be in partners the first the one with the horse as more or less a passenger, the second doing ground work and keeping the horse relaxed tough the process.
Colt Starting 3 Prerequisite: Colt Starting 2
In this class students will further progress their riding. Horses will be ridden with a bit in this course, learn to stay in whatever gait you put them in, turns on the hind and forequarters, side passing, backing and beginning of collection.
After this class the students will be ready to train a horse all the way up to their intended career and continue from there.
